HP DesignJet Z6 Ink & Paper

Frequently asked questions

Which ink cartridges fit the HP DesignJet Z6?

The HP DesignJet Z6 takes HP 746 300-ml Chromatic Red DesignJet Ink Cartridge, HP 746 300-ml Cyan DesignJet Ink Cartridge, HP 746 300-ml Magenta DesignJet Ink Cartridge, HP 746 300-ml Matte Black DesignJet Ink Cartridge, HP 746 300-ml Photo Black DesignJet Ink Cartridge and HP 746 300-ml Yellow DesignJet Ink Cartridge. Every cartridge listed on this page comes from the manufacturer's supply listing for this model.

What roll widths and core sizes does the HP DesignJet Z6 take?

It takes rolls up to 24 or 44 in wide on 3 in cores, depending on which configuration you own. The spindle holds a finished roll up to 134.9 mm in diameter, which is what separates a 150 ft roll from a 300 ft roll of the same paper. It also takes cut sheets.

Does the HP DesignJet Z6 use dye or pigment ink?

The HP DesignJet Z6 runs aqueous pigment ink. Pigment ink sits on the surface as solid particles, so prints are more water- and fade-resistant than dye — the reason it is the standard for technical and fine-art output.

What paper can I use in the HP DesignJet Z6?

We hold 92 paper and media products verified against this machine, 71 of them at the recommended tier, where compatibility is resolved from the printer's published media handling — roll width, core size, the roll diameter the spindle holds and the coating's rating for this machine's ink. The rest come from the supply list the manufacturer publishes for this machine. Either way a roll only appears here if a source says it fits.

Do you sell printheads for the HP DesignJet Z6?

Yes — 1 genuine printhead product for this model is listed above. If you are not sure which channel has failed, call 980-536-0080 and we will work it out from the machine's error code.
