What you should know

ABAQA Poly Fabric is a lightweight, water-resistant, 100% polyester fabric at 8 mil and 147 gsm. Soft signage is a category of its own: a printed textile hangs, drapes and folds for transport, so a trade-show graphic packs into a case instead of shipping in a tube, and arrives without the creases a film would keep.

Flags are the application that only a textile can serve. The first three are ABAQA’s stated ideal applications, and they share the same logic — graphics that travel, get folded, and have to look unhandled on arrival.

Ink compatibility

Aqueous dye and aqueous pigment inks are each rated BEST; latex is rated compatible. Solvent, eco-solvent and UV-curable inks are not rated for this fabric. So this is primarily an aqueous inkjet textile, with latex as a workable second option rather than an optimised one. If your soft-signage work runs on a solvent or UV press, ABAQA’s solvent-rated display materials are the correct place to look instead.

Working with it

Two figures deserve attention before ordering. First, ABAQA publishes an actual service life: up to one year indoors and six months outdoors. Second, opacity is 80% — the lowest in ABAQA’s display range and a real consideration for a hanging fabric, since light from behind will carry the image through to some degree. For double-sided or backlit-adjacent positions, specify a blockout material instead. Brightness is 96 and whiteness 120 CIE. Rolls run 36 to 60 inches wide on 2- or 3-inch cores.
