Kodak’s description of what it does is the clearest statement of the product: it sticks to any non-porous flat surface and removes easily with no residue, giving sharp-looking seamless graphics and photographic image quality. This is the standard-weight aqueous Photo Tex — the base product of the family.

Life-size cut-outs are the application that shows what the material is. A cut-out has an irregular edge and gets moved constantly, so an adhesive vinyl would curl and lose its edge within a week. A repositionable fabric handles both. Wall murals and life-size cut-outs are Kodak’s stated ideal applications.

Ink compatibility

Aqueous dye and aqueous pigment inks are each rated compatible. There is no BEST rating on file for this version, and no rating for latex, solvent, eco-solvent or UV-curable inks. If your work runs on a solvent press, Kodak stocks a solvent Photo Tex at 12 mil and 280 gsm; if you want a designed-for aqueous rating, the EX version of Photo Tex is rated BEST for both dye and pigment.

Working with it

Kodak recommends the material outdoors for up to six months without additional protection, and publishes no overlamination requirement — correctly, since a laminate would compromise the removability that justifies the product. At 10 mil and 240 gsm this is the lightest Photo Tex in the range, which makes it the easiest to apply around corners and over cut-outs. Rolls run 24 to 60 inches wide on 3-inch cores — the widest span in the family.
