ABAQA 10 Mil Polycarbonate Laminate is a medium-gauge, frosted, pressure-sensitive polycarbonate laminating film on a PCVE base. It is an overlaminate rather than a printing stock, and it was designed for one situation in particular: graphics that will repeatedly be hung with hook-and-loop tape to the fabric panels of a pop-up trade-show booth. ABAQA states it enhances both the look and the durability of those graphics.

Both of those are display environments where a printed panel is handled a great deal — set up, struck, packed, and set up again in another city. The 10-mil gauge is the middle of ABAQA’s polycarbonate range: heavier than the 5-mil film, which is the general-purpose frosted laminate in the same family, and lighter than the 15-mil, which ABAQA positions as a rigid panel that hangs on booth frames with magnets. Ten mil is the one specified where hook-and-loop tape does the hanging.
Ink compatibility
Because this is a laminating film and not a receiving surface, its ink ratings describe what it can be applied over rather than what it prints. All six chemistries we hold ratings for are listed as compatible: aqueous dye, aqueous pigment, latex, solvent, eco-solvent and UV-curable. In practice that means it is not restricted to one side of the shop — an aqueous photo print and a solvent-printed panel can both go under the same roll of laminate.
Working with it
The frosted finish is the surface you get; there is no gloss option in this gauge. The adhesive is pressure-sensitive, so it goes on with a cold-roll laminator rather than a heat-assist machine. Rolls run 38 to 51 inches wide on 3-inch cores, which is what sets the maximum panel width you can laminate in one pass — worth checking against your booth panel dimensions before ordering.
