Why Buy From the People Who Graded All 638?

Most dealer sites ask you to trust adjectives; we'd rather you audit the work — nine spec dimensions, lab-measured color, public method, live prices.

Most wide-format dealer sites ask you to trust adjectives — fast, reliable, professional-grade — and hope you don’t check. We’d rather you audit us. Every machine we cover is graded on nine spec dimensions, color is measured in our lab rather than quoted from a brochure, the methodology is published in full, and prices render live next to this prose so nothing here goes stale the moment a promotion changes.

That’s the whole pitch, and it’s an unusual one. Buying a plotter online means committing real money to people you found through a search box. The reasonable response is skepticism. So instead of asking you to overcome it, we’ve built the site around the idea that you shouldn’t have to: the claims that matter are each linked to the page that proves them. If we say a machine handles fine-line CAD legibly, or drinks ink on a certain media, or ranks where it ranks, you can follow the trail to the measurement or the manufacturer datasheet behind it.

There are two failure modes in this market. Analysis sites explain the machine but can’t sell it to you or answer the phone when it jams. Box-movers ship the carton but can’t tell you which roll configuration fits your plan-set workflow. We’re trying to occupy the narrow ground between them — the data of the first, the accountability of the second — as an independent HP and Epson dealer that also publishes who each machine is wrong for. Read on for how each piece works, and where to verify it.

Audit our work instead of trusting our adjectives

SHT 02 · PLOTTERPRINTERS ANALYST DESK

“Graded” means something specific here, and you can check the rulebook. Every printer in our coverage is scored against nine dimensions — line quality, media handling, roll and unattended-run capability, throughput realities, connectivity and security, and the rest — using a method we publish openly. You don’t have to take the ranking on faith; you can read how the ranking is built and decide whether our weighting matches your work.

The color data is the part no other dealer publishes. We measure ICC profiles in the lab — actual output on actual media, instrumented — rather than repeating a saturation claim from a spec sheet. If you produce color-coded coordination drawings, GIS maps or presentation boards, that measured color library tells you what the machine really does on paper, not what marketing hopes it does.

Underneath both sits a fact layer drawn from manufacturer datasheets — roll widths, ink configurations, stated speeds, duty figures — cited to their sources so you can trace any number back to its origin. We’re careful to keep the layers separate: a datasheet claim is labeled as such, a lab measurement as ours, a ranking as our interpretation of the two. The result is that every consequential statement on this site points at the page that backs it. That’s the audit. Start with the live rankings and follow the links back to the evidence — that’s the order we’d read it in.

Independent, stated carefully

Let’s be precise about what independence does and doesn’t mean here, because the word gets abused. We are an authorized HP DesignJet and Epson SureColor dealer. We sell those lines and we’d like to sell you one. So the honest test of independence isn’t whether we have a catalog — it’s whether the analysis serves you or the catalog.

Three things suggest it serves you. First, for every machine we publish who it’s wrong for — the workflows and volumes where it’s a poor fit — which is not how you write copy when your only goal is to move units. Second, the rankings don’t know what’s on promotion; the scoring runs on specs and measurements, not on this week’s margin. There are no sponsored placements and no paid ordering.

Third, the Canon note. We cover Canon’s wide-format lineup editorially, and we don’t sell it. A dealer whose coverage were just a catalog in disguise would have no reason to write about a brand it can’t ship you. We do it because a reader comparing plotters deserves the honest field, not the shelf we happen to stock. Roland we carry selectively — authorized, on a limited set of models. Take all of that as a signal about the coverage, not a hedge.

A dealer you can actually hold accountable

SHT 04 · PLOTTERPRINTERS ANALYST DESK

There’s a gap in this market and most buyers fall into it. Analysis sites explain the machine beautifully and then can’t quote you, order you the right roll configuration, or pick up when something breaks. Box-movers ship the carton fast and then can’t tell you why your fine lines are fuzzing or which supplies match your warranty. Neither one is accountable for the outcome you actually wanted, which was a working plotter in your print room.

We try to bridge that gap by doing both jobs. The analysis is public and linked to its evidence, and there is a real quote funnel and a real phone answered by people who can explain the machine they’re selling. That phone rings in Mooresville, North Carolina — 110 Exmore Rd, Suite 2, Mooresville, NC 28117; 980-536-0080.

An honest quote from us includes the possibility that the answer is “don’t buy yet.” If your volume doesn’t justify the tier you’re looking at, or your workflow needs a scanner you weren’t planning to budget for, we’d rather say so before the purchase order than after the return request. Your questions, answered

SHT 05 · PLOTTERPRINTERS ANALYST DESK
How do I know your rankings aren't just pushing whatever you want to sell?

Two structural reasons. The scoring runs on published spec dimensions and lab measurements, and it doesn’t know what’s on promotion — there are no sponsored placements or paid ordering. And we publish who each machine is wrong for, which is the opposite of catalog copy. The method is public, so you can check the weighting against your own priorities rather than trusting the result.

What does 'graded on nine spec dimensions' actually mean?

Every printer we cover is scored against nine categories — things like line quality, media handling, unattended roll operation, real-world throughput, connectivity and security. The rulebook for how those scores are built is published on our methodology page, so you can see the criteria before you trust the ranking. It’s meant to be audited, not admired.

What is the ICC color data and why does it matter to me?

ICC profiles describe how a printer reproduces color on specific media. We measure them in our lab — real output, instrumented — rather than repeating a datasheet claim. If you print color-coded coordination drawings, GIS maps or presentation boards, that measured data tells you what the machine truly does on paper. As far as we know, no other dealer publishes it.

Are you an authorized dealer or just a reseller?

We are an authorized independent US dealer for HP DesignJet and Epson SureColor wide-format printers. Authorized means the warranty and supply paths are the manufacturer’s real ones, not a gray-market workaround. Independent means our editorial coverage — including brands we don’t sell — isn’t dictated by a single manufacturer’s catalog.

Why do you write about Canon if you don't sell it?

Because a reader comparing plotters deserves the honest field, not just the shelf we stock. We cover Canon’s wide-format lineup editorially and don’t sell it. A dealer whose coverage were merely a catalog in disguise would have no reason to write about a brand it can’t ship. Treat it as evidence that the analysis is analysis. Roland we carry selectively, as an authorized dealer on a limited model set.

Where are you located and can I talk to a real person?

Yes. The phone is answered in Mooresville, North Carolina, at 980-536-0080, and the address is 110 Exmore Rd, Suite 2, Mooresville, NC 28117. You can start a quote through our online funnel or by phone. Support begins with a conversation, not a ticket queue — see the service and support page for how that works.

What does an honest quote include?

The machine matched to your actual workflow and volume, supplies and warranty options matched per model, and — when it applies — the recommendation to hold off. If your volume doesn’t justify the tier, or you need a scanner you hadn’t budgeted, we’d rather say so before the purchase order than after a return. ‘Don’t buy yet’ is a legitimate answer.

Do the prices I see on the site stay accurate?

Prices render live next to the editorial rather than being typed into the prose, which is why we never quote figures in the writing — a number written into copy is stale the moment it changes. The ranked leaderboard on the rankings page carries current pricing and score order automatically. What you read and what you’d pay stay in sync.

What happens after I buy — do I get support or a shrug?

Support starts on the phone with someone who can explain the machine, not just the invoice. Supplies and warranty options are matched to the specific model you bought rather than sold as a generic bundle. The service and support page lays out how it works. The goal is a working plotter in your print room, which is the outcome we’re actually accountable for.

Why should I trust an online dealer over a local shop?

You shouldn’t trust either on adjectives alone — audit both. What we offer that most local shops don’t is a public methodology, lab-measured color data, and cited datasheet facts you can verify before spending a cent. What we offer that most analysis sites don’t is a quote funnel and a phone answered in Mooresville, NC. Check the evidence, then call.
