What you should know
Firenze 170gsm is the heavier-weight member of the Firenze series — a premium instant-dry coated matte inkjet paper on an 8-mil, 46 lb base, with a smooth bright-white surface measuring 95 brightness and 99% opacity. The coating is the same one used on the lighter Firenze 132gsm; what the extra caliper buys is stiffness, and a sheet that hangs and mounts without showing what is behind it.

Dietzgen specifies Firenze to run on a printer’s stock “coated paper” media setting rather than requiring a custom profile, which is what makes it viable as a standing shop roll instead of a job-specific order. The instant-dry behaviour supports the same argument: output can be trimmed and stacked straight off the machine.
Ink compatibility
BEST on three chemistries — aqueous dye, aqueous pigment and HP PageWide. Latex and UV-curable inks are rated GOOD. Solvent and eco-solvent are not rated for this paper. In practice that means one roll serves both the aqueous plotters and the PageWide devices in a mixed fleet.
Working with it
99% opacity is effectively the top of the scale for a coated inkjet paper, and paired with 95 brightness it gives a sheet that holds colour without letting anything behind it show through. Rolls run 24 to 60 inches wide on both 2- and 3-inch cores. Where the job wants the same surface in a lighter sheet, the Firenze 132gsm is the 6.5-mil, 36 lb version of the same paper.
