Epson SureColor T7200

On ordinary bond, the T7200’s PrecisionCore head lays down black linework that holds its edges — the thing engineers actually judge a plotter on. Variable-droplet technology (VSDT) modulates dot size so that a 0.13 mm line and a solid title-block fill can share the same pass without one starving the other. Auto Head Alignment handles the recalibration that older machines made you babysit.

At 2880 x 1440 DPI it has more addressable resolution than most CAD output needs, which is exactly why it reads well: dimension strings and leader text stay legible where a coarser machine would blur them. The cyan edge on a color-coded MEP overlay stays where the drafter put it, not a pixel wider.

Roll and cut-sheet feeding are both here, and the maximum roll diameter of 5.91″ tells you what to expect: standard shop rolls, not the giant unattended spools a central reprographics floor lives on. If continuous two-roll switching is central to your workflow — say you alternate 24-inch and 36-inch stock all day — the dual-roll members of the family are the honest answer. Consider the SureColor T7072DR or, at 44-inch width, the SureColor T7270DR 44-in. The single-roll T7270 44-in is the wider sibling if you print full E-size sheets often.

The optional Epson 2/3 Dual Roll Feed spindle adds flexibility, and the Epson Hard Disk Unit T & P series supports reprint and job-storage workflows on the built-in HDD.

For submission reliability, the driver stack covers HP-GL, HP-GL/2, HP-RTL, ESC/P and PostScript 3 — meaning legacy AutoCAD output and modern PDF-based Bluebeam workflows both land without a translation layer fight. Gigabit Ethernet and a USB Type-A port cover networked and walk-up jobs; the internal 320 GB HDD and 1024 MB of memory keep larger raster files moving.
