Twelve ink channels is the headline, but the honest way to read it is by what it does to the edges of a gamut. On the media we measured, the extra channels of the UltraChrome pigment set widen the space where a rendering’s most saturated colors live — the deep teatime shadows under an entry canopy, the cyan edge of a sky in a site photomontage — rather than dramatically changing a mid-tone blue you’d never have questioned. Measured gamut, not a marketing percentage, is the fair way to judge that, and it is worth checking against your own paper.

For line work — permit sets, structural details, MEP coordination — the 2400 x 1200 DPI addressability renders fine lines and small callout text cleanly. But be clear-eyed: this is a machine you buy for the color renderings, and it will print your drawings competently as a bonus, not the other way around.

Epson rates the P20570 at 18 m²/h in production high-quality mode. Treat that as a ceiling, not a daily average: photo-quality board work, drying time, roll changes and mixed-size sheets all pull real throughput below the datasheet figure, and color proofs run slower still. It draws roughly 95 W typical and next to nothing in standby, so power is not the constraint — floor space is. At nearly 108 inches wide and close to 500 pounds, this is a print-room fixture, not an office-corner plotter.

Options tell you who it’s for. An Auto Take-up Reel-style workflow, an optional 1TB SSD for spooling large jobs, and an Adobe PostScript 3 expansion unit point squarely at a busy reprographics or presentation-graphics operation that runs long, color-critical roll jobs unattended.

If your work is genuinely 60-inch — large presentation boards, wide GIS plots, exhibition-grade renderings produced in volume — the P20570 belongs in the conversation.
