Dietzgen 747 is the heaviest sheet in Dietzgen’s coated matte inkjet range: 46 lb (180 gsm) at 8 mil, with an instant-dry matte coating, 95 brightness and 99% opacity. At 99% it is functionally opaque — nothing shows through it from any backing.

Dietzgen’s own framing for 747 is a range rather than a single job: a solution for applications running from general signage through to décor fine art. Those two ends ask for different things — signage wants opacity and body, fine art wants a matte surface that holds shadow detail — and 8 mil of coated stock at 99% opacity is the specification that covers both.
Ink compatibility
Aqueous dye, aqueous pigment and HP PageWide are all rated BEST. Toner, latex and UV inks are each rated GOOD. As across the rest of the coated matte range, the instant-dry coating is stated to deliver print quality, line acuity and image clarity across multiple inkjet technologies without sacrificing print speed or colour accuracy, and the paper runs on the standard onboard “coated paper” setting on most machines.
Working with it
At 8 mil, check the media-thickness limit on the plotter before ordering — heavy coated stock is where tight feed paths give up. Overlamination is not required, though pressure-sensitive, heat-assist and thermal overlaminates are all compatible where a print needs protection from dirt, abrasion and moisture. Rolls run 22 to 60 inches wide on 2- or 3-inch cores. If 8 mil is more sheet than the job needs, the same coated matte face is made at 6.5, 5 and 4 mil.
