For drawing work, the practical strengths are its four-color inkjet system, 2400 x 1200 DPI maximum resolution, and support for Ethernet LAN, Wi-Fi, USB Type-A, and USB Type-B connections. Apple AirPrint and Mopria Print Service also give mobile users a direct submission route. That can be useful in a job trailer; it still needs a sensible file-naming and PDF-review discipline behind it.

The machine includes color scanning using CIS technology, with 1200 x 2400 DPI optical scanning resolution. That makes it relevant for bringing marked-up drawings, field sketches, and other paper records into a digital review process. The supplied specifications list copying as unsupported, however, so buyers should not treat scanning as proof of a walk-up scan-copy workflow. The TC-21M has 1 GB of internal storage and a built-in display. Those are helpful operational features, but they do not replace print-management rules, PDF standards, or user support. IT should validate the supported Windows and Mac environments, network setup, and mobile-print policy before rollout. Security is not a decorative checkbox: an unmanaged Wi-Fi plotter can become the office’s least intentional endpoint.

Its maximum roll length is 157.5" and maximum roll diameter is 4.33". Those constraints are acceptable where output is occasional and nearby staff can reload media, but they become an interruption in a busy bid issue or a sustained construction-document run. The scanner is free. The person standing at it is not.
