If A2 is your real ceiling, the iPF510 fits. The step-down Canon iPF500 is the same 17-inch class at a lower resolution — 1200 x 1200 DPI — so the iPF510 buys you finer output for the color work.
But be honest about width. The moment you need D-size, 24-inch, or full bid sets, you’ve outgrown 17 inches entirely. That’s where the Canon iPF610 or the Canon iPF670 come in, and if you need scan-copy-print in one box, the Canon iPF770 carries a 36-inch scanner. Cross-shopping on photo quality alone? Epson states its Epson SC-P900 hits 5760 x 1440 DPI in the same 17-inch footprint. Run the side-by-side before you decide.

The iPF510 is a color proofing and small-format machine, and it’s fair at it. Four inks, 2400 x 1200 DPI, tight +/-0.1% line accuracy, and a footprint that fits on a bench. If your world is A2 renderings, boards, and desk-side check prints, it earns its spot. If your world is plan sets and D-size drawings, don’t fight the width — step up to 24 or 36 inches and be done with it. Bottom line: right machine for the desk, wrong machine for the plan-room.
