Ray came up through reprographics the loud way — feeding ammonia-smelling diazo machines before lunch and babysitting the office’s first inkjet plotter after it. Since then he has run print rooms for architecture studios, civil firms and general contractors, managed fleets from two seats to four hundred, and unjammed more media paths than he cares to count. He has watched every major plotter line evolve from the pen era to today’s multifunction machines, and he remembers exactly which models earned their keep and which ones ate service calls.
