The narrow widths line up with the POS and POP half of that list. Retail signage, aisle banners and pull-up graphics are rarely 60 inches wide, and running them off a 60-inch roll wastes material on every job. Buying the width you actually print is the cheaper habit.

Ink compatibility

Aqueous dye, aqueous pigment and latex inks are each rated BEST. Solvent, eco-solvent and UV-curable inks are not rated for this material. Scrim banner is a category where solvent stock predominates, so this is worth confirming against your press rather than assuming from the product type.

Working with it

Whiteness is 120 CIE and the blockout layer is what carries opacity to 100%, which is the whole reason to choose this over the lighter 15-mil econo scrim at 85%. If a graphic is single-sided and hangs against a solid wall, you do not need it. If it hangs free, is printed both sides, or sits in front of glass, you do. Lamination is optional: pressure-sensitive vinyl laminates increase the fade and abrasion resistance of the image, and the image should dry for 24 hours before laminating. Rolls are supplied on 2- or 3-inch cores.
