SIENA200L is an 8-mil, 200 gsm microporous photo paper with a luster finish — Magic’s term for a slightly textured satin that sits between gloss and matte. It is one of the flagship products of the Siena family. The microporous coating is the reason to choose it: prints dry instantly rather than over minutes, so output can be cut, stacked and handled as it comes off the machine instead of being laid out to cure.

Magic positions the 8-mil weight specifically for production posters and everyday photo printing. The same paper is made in a 10-mil version, which the vendor points at framing and gallery reproduction, and in a gloss finish for anyone who wants the harder specular surface.

Ink compatibility

SIENA200L is rated BEST for both aqueous dye and aqueous pigment inks, which covers the aqueous photo plotters that most print shops and photographers actually run. Latex and HP PageWide are each rated GOOD. Solvent and UV-curable inks are not among its rated chemistries.

Working with it

Beyond the instant dry time, Magic states that prints exhibit vivid colours that will not fade on display, which is the property that matters for gallery and album work. The base measures 96% opacity and 98% brightness with a whiteness of 130, so it is a bright, near-opaque sheet rather than a warm or textured art paper. It is supplied in roll form only, 17 to 60 inches wide, on 3-inch cores.
