What you should know

SIENA250G is the heavier gloss member of Magic’s Siena microporous photo family — 10 mil, 255 gsm. The coating is the same instant-dry microporous surface used across the family, so prints can be cut and stacked as they come off the machine. What the extra 2 mil and 55 gsm change is where the vendor points the paper.

Compare that list with the 8-mil SIENA200G, which Magic lists for production posters and everyday photo printing. Same coating, same family, different brief: the 250 weight is specified where the print will be framed, hung or bound rather than run at volume. A heavier sheet holds itself flat behind glass and takes handling in a book without buckling.

Ink compatibility

Rated BEST for aqueous dye and aqueous pigment inks. Latex is rated GOOD. Solvent, eco-solvent, UV-curable and HP PageWide inks are not among its rated chemistries, so this is aqueous photo-plotter stock.

Working with it

Magic states prints dry instantly and exhibit vivid colours that will not fade on display — the fade claim being the one that matters for gallery and exhibition output. The base measures 95% opacity and 130 CIE whiteness. Gloss gives the deepest apparent blacks of the family’s finishes but shows reflections under direct light; where the print will hang under gallery spots, the luster version of the same paper is SIENA250L. Rolls run 24 to 60 inches wide on 3-inch cores.
