KODAK Photo Tex Repositionable Fabric – EX (Solv) is a 13-mil, 305 gsm repositionable fabric made from 40–45% polyester and 40–45% pulp-cellulose. Kodak states it sticks to any non-porous flat surface and removes easily with no residue, producing sharp seamless graphics and photographic image quality. EX is the heavier, higher-grab grade of Photo Tex, and this is its solvent-press listing.

Floors and carpets appear only on the EX solvent listing within the Photo Tex range, and that is the practical reason to choose it. A tight-weave carpet is about as difficult a surface as a repositionable graphic ever gets asked to hold, and the EX grade is the one Kodak specifies for it. Kodak also names long-term applications among its ideal uses for this version.

Ink compatibility

The rating set here is the broadest in the Photo Tex family. Aqueous dye and aqueous pigment are each rated BEST, while latex, solvent, eco-solvent and UV-curable are each rated compatible. That is worth reading twice, because the product is stocked as a solvent listing: the designed-for ratings on file sit on the aqueous chemistries, and the solvent-family ratings are compatible. If you are buying it for a solvent press, that is supported — expect to profile rather than drop in a preset.

Working with it

Kodak recommends the material outdoors for up to six months without additional protection and publishes no overlamination requirement, which is consistent with a product bought for removability. Rolls run 54 to 60 inches wide on 3-inch cores. The 13-mil figure includes the liner; the product name refers to the 6-mil base film.
