ABAQA 15 Mil Textured Co-polymer Laminate is a rigid, textured, pressure-sensitive laminating film. It sits alongside ABAQA’s 15-mil polycarbonate laminate at the same gauge and for broadly the same job, and the vendor states one specific difference: this co-polymer film is easier to trim than polycarbonate. If you have ever fought a rigid polycarbonate panel at the guillotine, that is not a small claim.

All three are handled formats — panels that get transported, assembled and taken down repeatedly. The 15-mil gauge produces a laminated panel with real rigidity, and the textured face controls reflections under exhibition and retail lighting rather than throwing them back at the viewer the way a gloss laminate does.

Ink compatibility

Ratings describe the printed graphics this film is applied over, not a receiving surface of its own. Aqueous dye, aqueous pigment, latex and solvent inks are each rated BEST; UV-curable and eco-solvent are rated compatible. A single roll therefore covers both the aqueous and solvent sides of a mixed shop.

Working with it

The adhesive is pressure-sensitive, so this is a cold-roll laminator material. Trimming is where the co-polymer construction pays off, but the same rigidity that makes a good panel still argues for a sharp blade and a supported cut. Supplied in a single 51-inch roll width on 3-inch cores. If your panels need to be wider than that, they will need to be split — the roll width is the hard limit.
