GFIOP212 is the heavier of Dietzgen’s two wet-strength satin poster papers — 9 mil, 212 gsm, on a latex-saturated base. The saturation treatment is the reason a paper stock can be specified outdoors at all: Dietzgen states the base creates a strong foundation for indoor and outdoor applications, and the satin receptive coating promotes ink adhesion and resists scratching.

The way this roll is supplied tells you who it is for. It starts at 48 inches and runs to 61, and it is offered on a 6-inch core as well as a 3-inch one — a 6-inch core carries more material per roll and means fewer media changes across a production shift. This is a large-format production stock rather than a shop’s general-purpose poster paper.
Ink compatibility
BEST on solvent, latex and UV-curable inks. Eco-solvent is rated GOOD and toner is rated GOOD. Aqueous dye and aqueous pigment inks are not rated. Read alongside the outdoor brief, that is a coherent product: solvent and latex inks bring their own durability to the surface, which is what an unlaminated outdoor poster depends on.
Working with it
At 9 mil the sheet carries half again the caliper of the 6-mil version, which is the reason to specify it at the larger widths it is sold in. Rolls run 48 to 61 inches wide. For narrower work, or where the finished piece does not need the extra body, the same latex-saturated base and the same satin coating are made at 6 mil and 140 gsm as GFIOP140, in widths from 30 inches.
