15 mil Poly-Cotton Satin Canvas

GFCVM is a printable poly-cotton canvas — 15 mil, 300 gsm, woven 1:1 and finished with a proprietary satin coating. The 1:1 weave is the structural point: an even warp-to-weft count is what lets a canvas take tension uniformly across a frame instead of pulling tight in one direction and slack in the other.

The stated ideal application is stretching on fine-art frames, and the durability claims are written to that job: the canvas has enough flexibility to give no edge cracking and no sagging when stretched, and the vendor states colours remain true and vibrant for many years. Those are the two ways a stretched canvas print fails — a cracked white line along the bar edge, or a face that goes slack in the frame months later.

Ink compatibility

This is a solvent-family canvas and the ratings are unambiguous: BEST for solvent, BEST for eco-solvent, BEST for latex and BEST for UV-curable. Aqueous dye and aqueous pigment inks are not rated for it, and neither is toner. If the canvas work is coming off an aqueous photo plotter, this is not the roll — Dietzgen’s matte Torino canvas carries the aqueous ratings instead.

Working with it

Canvas is normally coated after printing rather than laminated with film, and GFCVM is specified for that: Dietzgen states it is compatible with common liquid overlaminate and with production stretching equipment, so it fits a shop that finishes canvas at volume rather than one frame at a time. Rolls run 30 to 60 inches wide on 3-inch cores.
