The TM-355 fits an architecture, engineering or construction office that needs color wide-format output without placing scanning and copying at the center of the workflow. It accepts cut sheets as well as plain paper, heavy paper and roll media, with a maximum roll length of 708.7″ (18 m). Its 500 GB internal storage is useful in a shared environment where submitted jobs need to reside at the device.

The machine has a 4.3″ touch display and supports Gigabit Ethernet alongside Wi-Fi, USB Type-A and USB Type-B connections. For an IT team, that means the physical and network connection choices are clear; it does not, by itself, answer questions about authentication policy, accounting configuration or site-specific driver deployment. Those should be demonstrated against the firm’s actual PDF and CAD files before commitment.

For teams whose output rarely exceeds 24 inches wide, the Canon TM-255 24-in is the more compact-width alternative. Firms needing to copy marked-up plans or scan legacy sheets should instead examine the Canon TM-250 24-in, which is listed with scanner/MFP capability.

The five printing colors are Black, Cyan, Magenta, Matte black and Yellow. That combination matters for ordinary AEC communication: black and matte black support technical linework, while cyan, magenta and yellow carry disciplined use of layers, phasing, utilities and review markup. The difference is often visible at the cyan edge of a crowded coordination drawing, where color needs separation without overwhelming the drawing’s structure.

Canon specifies a maximum resolution of 2400 x 1200 DPI. Resolution is relevant to fine detail, but it is not a guarantee of line quality across every PDF, driver setting and paper choice. Test the small annotation text, screened fills and dense hatch patterns your teams actually issue. The TM-355 supports borderless printing in A0 and A1 sizes, which may suit display-oriented sheets; it is not a substitute for checking the drawing border and title-block requirements of a formal issue set.

The TM-355 sits between narrower office plotting and wider 36-inch Canon options. The width decision is operational: choose it around the sheet sizes your consultants, reviewers and field teams truly exchange, rather than occasional exceptional drawings.

This model is less appropriate where scanning, copying and walk-up conversion of marked-up paper plans are routine, because it has no scanning or copying function. It is also not the right fit if the print room requires capabilities beyond the documented maximum A0 size.
