Fine art reproduction on a solvent press is a specific kind of job — usually open-edition reproduction at scale rather than archival gallery work — and the gloss face plus 145 CIE whiteness is what supports it, giving the deepest apparent blacks and the widest visible colour range of ABAQA’s PE papers.

Ink compatibility

Latex, solvent and eco-solvent inks are each rated BEST, and UV-curable is rated compatible. It is not rated for aqueous printers. There is no aqueous dye or pigment rating on file for this paper, so an aqueous photo plotter needs a different roll — the ratings here are unambiguous about which side of the shop this belongs to.

Working with it

ABAQA’s finishing note is a single sentence and it is a welcome one: no post-processing or finishing is required. That is unusual on a gloss stock, most of which want a laminate to survive handling, and it is the practical argument for this paper on a deadline — the print comes off the machine finished. Opacity is 90%. Rolls run 36 to 61 inches wide on 3-inch cores, so it covers the widest solvent presses without seaming.
