It’s a wide-format inkjet built for the presentation-and-graphics side of AEC work — renderings, site maps, marketing boards — not the daily grind of bond-paper bid sets.
The 5000 UV is an older machine. It’s long out of production, but plenty still run in reprographics rooms and larger design practices because the parts and inks are still around. If you’re evaluating a used unit or keeping one alive, the question isn’t whether it prints well. It’s whether it fits the work you actually push through it.

Name the failure mode first: this is a photo-and-graphics engine, not a bid-set factory. If your day is 200 D-size sheets of half-tone plans before lunch, a graphics-oriented inkjet like this will make you wait. First print out and per-sheet throughput on heavy monochrome runs aren’t its strength, and it wasn’t designed for unattended collated plan sets the way a modern production plotter is.
