Photo Tex Repositionable Fabric – Opaque (Solv) / 6 mil

KODAK Photo Tex Repositionable Fabric – Opaque (Solv) is a 13-mil, 305 gsm repositionable fabric made from 40–45% polyester and 40–45% pulp-cellulose. This is the solvent-press listing of Kodak’s opaque Photo Tex, and of the several opaque variants in the range it is the one whose ink ratings line up most cleanly with the machines it is sold for.

Reusability is the commercial argument. A wall graphic that comes down without residue and goes back up somewhere else is a different kind of asset from a vinyl decal that is destroyed on removal — a touring exhibit or a multi-store retail programme can amortise the same panel across several installations.

Ink compatibility

Solvent and UV-curable inks are each rated BEST, with eco-solvent rated compatible. It is not for aqueous printers. No aqueous dye or aqueous pigment rating exists on file for this listing, and there is no latex rating either. Kodak stocks aqueous versions of the same opaque fabric under separate listings, so an aqueous shop has a route to the same material — just not this roll.

Working with it

Kodak recommends the material outdoors for up to six months without additional protection and publishes no overlamination requirement. Skipping the laminate is the intended handling here; on a repositionable fabric a laminate compromises the removability the product is bought for. Supplied in a single 54-inch roll width on 3-inch cores. The 13-mil gauge on file includes the liner as well as the base film, which is why it does not match the 6 mil in the product name.
