Clear film earns its place where an image has to be read through, or read over something else. Dietzgen’s claim for 4945 is print quality, line acuity and image clarity together with strength and durability for repeated handling — the combination that lets a transparency stay in service instead of being reprinted. The archival statement matters as much as the durability one: a film that is physically intact but yellowed is no longer a usable record.
Ink compatibility
Toner is the only rated chemistry, and it is rated BEST. There is no rating on file for aqueous dye, aqueous pigment, HP PageWide, latex or UV inks. That is a hard boundary rather than a soft one: for inkjet work on clear film Dietzgen makes a separate optically clear inkjet film, including a version converted with a removable side stripe for printers that need to sense the media edge.
Working with it
4945 is supplied in a single configuration: 36-inch rolls on 3-inch cores. Dietzgen publishes no lamination guidance for this film, and we hold no opacity, brightness or whiteness figures for it — it is a clear film, so the optical measurements that describe a white sheet do not apply to it. If you need a specification that is not listed here before committing to a roll, ask us and we will source it from Dietzgen.
